Kevin's Bikes is a family run bike shop located in Merced, Ca. Kevin's Bikes has a full service repair shop and sells a variety of bicycles and accessories ranging from kids bikes to road and mountain bikes.
Our Story
Dwight Ewing purchased Kevin’s Bikes from the founder, Kevin McCarthy, in 2024 after working for Kevin for over 10 years. Kevin McCarthy originally opened the shop in 1986 after a successful career as a BMX rider (USA 1st place champion for four years in a row!) Kevin worked hard to create a bike shop that focused on the needs of the community offering a variety of bikes in different price ranges as well as running a full service repair shop. Dwight continues in the footsteps of Kevin making sure that the shop is focused on the needs of Mercedians.
Kevin’s Bikes continues to be a family owned business. Dwight has a wife, Madison, and two children, a son and daughter, who are all happily involved in the running of the shop. Dwight also continues to advocate for safe cycling in Merced through his active involvement with the Merced Bicycle Coalition and as a member of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee for the City of Merced. Additionally, Dwight and Madison volunteer at several bicycle related events throughout the year such as the Merced Criterium and all of the Merced Bicycle Coalitions' events.
Meet The Owners
Dwight Ewing, known to many as Mills, is extremely passionate about everything bike related. Dwight discovered his love for cycling as a child who loved the freedom and sense of adventure cycling granted him and his passion has only grown.
He started volunteering for the Merced Bicycle Coalition (MBC) in 2010 right after graduating high school and has held leadership positions in the coalition since 2014. Volunteering as vice chair and eventually chair of the MBC Dwight has assisted the coalition with community outreach, advocacy and has helped to organize and lead many community rides.
In 2019 he became a volunteer member of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission for Merced which provided him with the opportunity to continue to advocate for safe and convenient cycling infrastructure in our community.

Madison, Dwight's wife and partner in all things including bikes was first introduced to the bicycle world when she met Dwight in her first year of college. Madison didn’t even know how to ride a bike, but don’t worry Dwight fixed that right away by teaching her to ride himself!
Since then Madison has learned a lot about bikes and cycling through her involvement with the MBC and working alongside Dwight at the shop. Madison loves that owning a bike shop allows her the opportunity to help people get riding whether that be by purchasing a new bike or fixing up a beloved one!
